Edgemont Village has over 70 businesses in operating including a wide variety of shops, cafes, and restaurants, as well as medical and professional offices. The Village has restrictive zoning which does not allow for any big chain stores and as such most commercial operations are small in scale. Community services such as the library and police office also exist in the Village.
The area is also very near to many attractions on North Vancouver such as Grouse Mountain and the Capilano Suspension Bridge. TransLink bus routes 232 (Phibbs Exchange) and 246 (Downtown Vancouver) service the Village regularly. Furthermore, access to the No. 1 Highway is very easy from all of Edgemont, allowing residents to easily travel to other areas of the Lower Mainland include a short drive to downtown Vancouver due to the proximity to the Lions Gate Bridge.
Edgemont is one of the more expensive neighbourhoods in North Vancouver due in part to the excellent services and community associated with Edgemont Village, but also its physical location in proximity to the Highway and the prestigious High School catchment for Handsworth which is among the highest rated schools in British Columbia (Compare North Vancouver Schools). The area is highly desirable, and prices have appreciated greatly over the past 20 years.
