The project currently proposes 332 condo units, 74 rental units, and 45 seniors rental units in a multi-building development that may see towers as high as 18 storeys. Early site plans also appear to contain approximately 20 townhouse units. Cap West plans to include a 24,000 square foot public community centre with a 6100 square foot park and 7800 square foot public plaza located immediately adjacent.
Furthermore, the site will feature 4200 square feet of retail space next to the public plaza and 1350 square feet of retail space off of Curling Road. A mini storage business is proposed for underground with a space of 125,220 square feet. Parking facilities are to include 546 residential stalls, 20 commercial and 7 loading zones as well as 66 parking stalls for the community centre and general public.
The area is very conveniently located nearby to the Lions Gate Bridge, Highway No. 1, and West Vancouver, allowing residents and visitors alike easy access to and from the site. Furthermore, the Marine Drive Village Centre is anticipated to act as a major transit hub ensuring frequent bus times to service the area.
The walkscore for the area will remain low until the amenities associated with the new proposals are implemented, at which time the Marine Drive Village Centre will likely receive a much higher rating.
